Rangpur Bureau
Police have recovered the hanging body of a student of Rangpur Begum Rokeya University. The body was recovered from a student hostel in Sardar Para, adjacent to the university, at around 8 pm on Thursday.
The deceased student is Jannatul Ferdous Tumpa (23), daughter of Abdul Wahab of Chapuiar village under Bratshala police station in Brahmanbaria district. She was a 13th batch student studying in the management department of Berobi. It is believed that Tumpa committed suicide by hanging herself in her room number 404 on the fourth floor of 'Apon Maharshi Nibas' located in Sardar Para, Rangpur. It is suspected that she may have committed suicide due to love affairs at the university.
Head of the management department, Rabiul Azam, who was present at the scene, said, "After receiving information from the students, we immediately informed the university proctor and rushed to the scene. Later, law enforcement officers broke the door and recovered the body." Upon learning of the incident, a team of Rangpur Metropolitan Police reached the scene and started a preliminary investigation.
They contacted the victim's family and brought down the body hanging from the ceiling fan. Shahidul Islam, investigating officer of Tajhat Police Station, said the body has been recovered and sent to the Rangpur Medical College morgue for autopsy. Further action will be taken after his guardian's arrival.
