All primary schools, kindergartens, English-mediums to come under govt monitoring: Bobby Hajjaj
Staff Correspondent
State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj has announced that the government is taking steps to bring all primary educational institutions across the country under a comprehensive government monitoring framework.
Speaking as the chief guest at a day-long training workshop titled "Classroom Operations, Monitoring, Accountability, and Evolving Expectations from Local Administration in Bangladesh's Primary Education" at the PTI Auditorium in Chittagong on Wednesday, the state minister noted that the Directorate of Primary Education's monitoring system has traditionally been limited to government-run primary schools. Under a new policy, this framework will be expanded to encompass all private, kindergarten, and English-medium primary institutions.
Highlighting discrepancies found in ground-level reports across 25 upazilas regarding students' foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) skills, the state minister stressed that educational administration must rely on verified, accurate data rather than conflicting field reports.
The event was presided over by Chittagong Divisional Deputy Director of Primary Education Md. Nurul Islam, with Directorate of Primary Education Additional Director General Md. Abdur Rahim attending as a special guest, alongside district and upazila primary education officers and administrative officials from across the division.
