A special awareness program has been organized in Jhalakathi to increase public awareness about dengue prevention and make students health conscious. The program was organized by the social organization 'Jhalakathi Manab Kalyan Society' and in collaboration with the District Information Office at Jhalakathi Udhamban Secondary School on Thursday at 11 am.

Shamim Talukder, convener of Jhalakati District Jubo Dal, was present as the chief guest at the event under the overall guidance of Md. Ujjal Rahman, president of Jhalakati Human Welfare Society.

In his speech as the chief guest, Shamim Talukder praised the initiative to create awareness among students to protect public health. He said that government initiatives alone are not enough to prevent dengue; individuals, families, educational institutions and society as a whole must play a united role. He mentioned that the main objective of this event is to build a dengue-free and safe Bangladesh through education, awareness and social partnership.

ABM Asisur Rahman Palash, headmaster of Jhalokati Udhamand Secondary School, delivered the inaugural speech at the event.

In the program, Habiba Khatun Hira, General Secretary of Jhalokati Human Welfare Society, explained in detail to the students the causes of dengue, identifying the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes, the initial symptoms of the disease, danger signs, and ways to prevent it.

During this time, students were urged to make it a habit to clean stagnant water in their homes, educational institutions, and surroundings at least once a week, destroy breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes, and stay safe from mosquito bites.

Later, awareness leaflets on dengue prevention were distributed among the students. At the same time, the students were encouraged to spread this awareness message to their families and society.
