Bangladesh Coast Guard recovered 5-kg crystal meth, 5,000 Yaba pills in Teknag

In separate anti-narcotics drives, the Bangladesh Coast Guard seized 5 kilograms of crystal meth (ice) and 5,000 Yaba tablets, arresting one suspected drug peddler in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar.
According to a press statement issued on Monday morning by Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, acting on a tip-off regarding a major consignment of crystal meth entering Bangladesh via the Naf River's Golarchar area near Shah Porir Dwip from Myanmar, a special operation was launched by Coast Guard Station Teknaf and Outpost Shahpori at 3:00 AM on Monday.
Sensing the presence of the patrol team, smugglers abandoned a polythene-wrapped bundle inside the mangrove bushes and fled. Subsequent searches of the area led to the recovery of 5 kilograms of crystal meth ingeniously concealed inside tea packets. Intelligence surveillance and special operations remain active to identify and apprehend the associates involved in the smuggling ring.
In a separate operation on Sunday at 6:00 PM, another special raid was conducted in the Keruntoli area of Teknaf. Authorities intercepted a suspicious auto-rickshaw and recovered 5,000 Yaba pills valued at approximately Tk 2.5 million, arresting one suspected drug dealer on the spot.
The seized narcotics and the detained individual have been handed over to local authorities for necessary legal proceedings.
