Bangladesh's garment exports to the United 
Kingdom (UK) rebounded in August after a marginal decline in July, rising 
10.53 percent year-on-year, according to data from the Export Promotion 
Bureau (EPB).

The strong August performance helped Bangladesh's garment export earnings 
from the UK market grow by 3.74 percent during the first two months of the 
current 2026-27 fiscal year.

Today, the EPB data showed that Bangladesh exported apparel worth US$915.63 
million to the UK during July-August of FY27, compared with $882.62 million 
in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.

Thus, garment export earnings from the UK increased by US$33.01 million 
during the first two months of the current fiscal year.

In July, garment exports to the UK had declined by 2.44 percent year-on-year. 
The 10.53 percent growth in August, however, helped offset the weakness 
recorded in the first month of the fiscal year.

Bangladesh's average monthly garment export earnings from the UK stood at 
$457.82 million during July-August of FY27, significantly higher than the 
monthly average of $365.71 million recorded in FY26.

Bangladesh earned a total of $4.39 billion from garment exports to the UK 
during FY26.

The monthly average export earnings during the first two months of FY27 were 
therefore around 25 percent higher than the average monthly earnings recorded 
in the previous fiscal year.

The July-August earnings also accounted for 20.86 percent of Bangladesh's 
total garment export earnings from the UK during the whole of FY26.

The UK is one of Bangladesh's major export destinations for readymade 
garments. The double-digit growth in August contributed to maintaining 
overall export momentum in the UK market at the beginning of the current 
fiscal year.

Continued growth in garment exports to the UK could also contribute to 
Bangladesh's overall apparel export performance in the coming months.
