DUDS-ActionAid Debate Festival begins

DUDS-ActionAid Annual Debate Festival began today, Saturday at the Dhaka University Student-Teacher Center Auditorium.
Dhaka University Debating Society President Md. Sajid Hasan presided over the inaugural ceremony, while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admini) Prof Dr. Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani, Moderator of Dhaka University Debating Society Professor Dr. Amirus Salat, Lawyer of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh Barrister Abu Saleh Md. Sayem and Nazmul Ahsan of Action Aid spoke as special guests. Dhaka University Debating Society General Secretary Miftahul Jannat Rifat moderated the program.
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Dr. Abdul Moin Khan called on the youth to play a leading role in building a democratic Bangladesh and an inclusive and humane society. He said that the youth must be instilled with the qualities of reason, tolerance and responsible leadership. They should develop into self-respecting and skilled human resources instead of chasing positions or power. He further said that in the interest of the country, it is necessary to build unity among everyone regardless of party or opinion. Through this, they will be able to play an important role in building a democratic and rational Bangladesh in the future.
Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Mohammad Almojaddidi Alfesani thanked the Dhaka University Debating Society for organizing the debate festival. Stressing the importance of regular debate practice, he said that through this, students' confidence and skills will increase.
