A rally and discussion meeting have been organized in Sreepur, Gazipur on the occasion of the 47th founding anniversary of the BNP.
A colourful joy rally was held by Sreepur Municipal BNP at around 11 am on Wednesday. The rally circled various parts of the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway and ended under the Mauna flyover. Later, a discussion meeting was held there.
The meeting was presided over by Sreepur Municipal BNP convener Humayun Kabir Sarkar and the program was moderated by Municipal BNP member secretary Md. Billal Hossain Bepari.
BNP's Central Joint Health Affairs Secretary and Gazipur District BNP Senior Joint Convener Professor Dr. Rafiqul Islam Bachchu spoke as the chief guest at the rally. He said, "BNP has always been by the side of the people in the struggle to restore democracy and establish people's voting rights. The people of the country want change today, and BNP will lead that change."
Local and grassroots leaders including municipal BNP joint convener Anwar Hossain Bepari and Ahsan Kabir also spoke. The speakers alleged that the government has imposed a one-party rule in the country and is suppressing opposition views. They demanded immediate and fair elections under a non-partisan government.
Leaders and activists of various units of Sreepur Municipality BNP, as well as Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Sramik Dal, Teachers' Association, Alem-Ulama and people from various classes and professions participated in the rally and meeting.
