Md Mujibur Rahman Patwary 

 Md Shariful Islam, an illustrated son of  Chandpur and a civil servant of the BCS (Agriculture) cadre, is currently serving as the Additional Deputy Director (Crops) at the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in Dhaka district, playing a key role in modernizing agriculture and expanding field-level technology transfer.

Shariful assumed his present role in Dhaka district following his promotion in 2024. Prior to his current posting, he served as the Upazila Agriculture Officer (UAO) in Shantipur upazila of Sunamganj district in 2024. Between 2019 and 2024, he served for five years as the UAO in Nabiganj upazila of Sunamganj district. He was first promoted to the position of Upazila Agriculture Officer in 2018, when he joined Ajmiriganj upazila in Habiganj district.

Shariful entered public service in 2011 as an Assistant Director at the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), serving in Chattogram district for over two years. He subsequently qualified for the 31st BCS examination and joined the DAE as an Agriculture Extension Officer, taking up his first cadre posting in Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria district in January 2013.

Academically, Shariful holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Agronomy from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), where he also completed his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (B.Sc. Ag. Hons.) during the 2003–04 session. He passed his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exams in the Science stream from Government Science College, Dhaka, in 2002, securing First Division with 791 marks, and earned his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) with Star Marks (831 marks) from Matuail Multilateral High School in 2000. He completed his primary education at Tillartoli Government Primary School.

Born in Chapatali village under Narayanpur Union in Matlab Dakshin upazila of Chandpur district, Shariful is the youngest son of the late Mawlana Md Osman Gani and the late Khadiza Akhtar. His father was a madrasa teacher, social reformer, and community organizer in Chandpur. Professionally, Shariful also serves as an Executive Member of the Convenor Committee of the BCS (Agriculture) Association.
