Coast Guard detained four sand-extracting perpetrators with dredger, bulkhead in Barishal

The Bangladesh Coast Guard has detained four individuals engaged in illegal sand extraction from the Kirtankhola River near the Dapdapia Bridge in Barishal, seizing a dredger and a bulkhead in the process.
Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon, Coast Guard Media Officer, shared this information in a press release on Thursday evening.
According to the Coast Guard, acting on a tip-off, Coast Guard Station Barishal conducted a special operation on the Kirtankhola River near the Dapdapia Bridge under Barishal Sadar Upazila at 2:00 AM on Thursday . During the raid, one dredger and one bulkhead were intercepted while illegally extracting sand from the river, and four individuals involved in the operation were apprehended.
Subsequently, a mobile court led by the Executive Magistrate of Barishal Sadar fined the owners of the dredger and bulkhead Tk 1,50,000, which was deposited into the state treasury. The detainees were later released on bond, along with the dredger and bulkhead.
