Chandpur Correspondent

Bangladesh Coast Guard provided emergency medical assistance to a sick passenger aboard a launch in Chandpur on Thursday.

The information was shared in a press release issued by Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haque on Thursday afternoon.

According to the press release, on Thursday, a man was accompanying his sick sister on a launch from Bhola’s Ilisha Ghat to Dhaka for advanced treatment with an oxygen cylinder. At around 11:00 AM, when the launch reached the Majherchar area near Chandpur, the oxygen cylinder ran out, putting the patient’s life at risk. The patient’s brother immediately called the Coast Guard emergency hotline 16111 seeking help.

Based on the information received, a medical team from Coast Guard Station Chandpur promptly set out on a high-speed boat with an oxygen cylinder and boarded the launch. The medical team provided oxygen to the patient and then transported her to the Chandpur Press Club Ghat via high-speed boat.

Later, the patient was transferred to Ibn Sina Hospital (Dhanmondi) by a civil ambulance for advanced treatment.

The Coast Guard remains committed to public service and will continue this dedication in the future.
