Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Harun-or-Rashid shared this information through a press release on Monday.
The press release stated that the Bangladesh Coast Guard has come forward to meet various needs of underprivileged people in coastal and riverbank areas. Since its inception, the Coast Guard has been providing free medical services to destitute and low-income individuals through medical campaigns at different times.
As part of this ongoing effort, from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM on Monday, the Coast Guard ship Mansur Ali conducted a medical campaign in Saint Martin, providing free medical services and necessary medicines to 184 helpless, poor, destitute individuals, and children. During the medical campaign, at 11:00 AM, a woman from the Bazar Para area of Saint Martin fell ill after consuming detergent to commit suicide due to a family dispute. She was brought to the medical campaign site. Immediately, the Coast Guard Medical Officer provided primary treatment to the patient, and she was later sent to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex for advanced treatment.
The Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such public welfare activities in the future.
