A written complaint has been lodged with the Chuadanga Deputy Commissioner alleging gross violations of official guidelines in the appointment of a fertilizer dealer in Khadimpur Union under Almanga upazila.

Seregul Islam, former president of Khadimpur Union BNP, submitted the complaint alleging that Asaduzzaman, proprietor of Tarin Enterprise and an active Bangladesh Awami League worker, was appointed in violation of regulatory norms. Copies of the complaint were also forwarded to the Ministry of Agriculture, the Agriculture Secretary, the BCIC Chairman, and the Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension in Chuadanga.

The complaint alleges a breach of Clause 3.2 of the fertilizer dealer appointment guidelines, which mandates that an applicant must possess a warehouse with a minimum storage capacity of 25 metric tonnes. According to the complaint, Tarin Enterprise's warehouse is located in a low-lying area capable of storing only 13 to 14 metric tonnes, rendering it ineligible under the policy. Concerns were also raised by local residents that appointing an individual linked to the former ruling party could lead to artificial fertilizer shortages in the region. A mass petition signed by locals accompanied the complaint demanding a re-investigation.

In response, Chuadanga Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Lutfun Nahar stated that the upazila selection committee evaluated the applications, conducted physical inspections of warehouse capacities, and forwarded the shortlisted names to the district committee, where agricultural representatives raised no objections during final reviews.

The Deputy Commissioner advised the complainant to appeal directly to the Central Fertilizer Management Committee, adding that local authorities will conduct a fresh investigation and submit a report if instructed by the central committee.
