
Devastating fire in Sreenagar Bazar destroys 100 shops

A devastating fire in Sreenagar Bazaar has burnt around a hundred shops to ashes. The affected businesses have turned into piles of rubble.
The fire broke out at around 2 a.m. on Thursday night at the historic Sreenagar Bazaar. It is estimated that the damage caused by the fire amounts to several crores of taka.
On Friday at around 12:30 p.m., Adviser to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Adilur Rahman Khan, visited the scene. According to sources, approximately a hundred business establishments—including jaggery stalls, fruit vendors, towel sellers, poultry shops, lentil sellers, and clothing stores—were completely destroyed in the blaze.Upon receiving the news, four units of the fire service worked for several hours to bring the fire under control. Shopkeepers reported that they became aware of the fire late at night. The fire service worked tirelessly from the middle of the night until 5 a.m. to contain the flames.
Md. Tofazzal Hossain, convener of the Sreenagar Bazaar Committee, stated that the market roads need to be widened and an emergency meeting will be held to arrange necessary fire safety measures.
Dewan Azad Hossain, Station Officer at Sreenagar Fire Service, said that the fire was finally brought under control after prolonged efforts. So far, information has been received that 79 shops were burned. The source of the fire has not yet been determined and the investigation is ongoing.Md. Mohin Uddin,
