Dialogue to establish social harmony and peace in Phulbari Held

Following the completion of a week-long online campaign to establish social harmony and peace, a multi-stakeholder dialogue was held to establish harmony and peace, organized by Activista Kurigram in collaboration with Udayankur Sheba Sangstha and ActionAid Bangladesh.
Imams, priests, representatives of Hindu-Muslim Unity Council and Social Harmony Committee, teachers, journalists, government officials and representatives of the youth participated in the dialogue moderated by Jharna Begum, Project Officer of Udayankur Sheba Sangstha, at the Fulbari Upazila Officers Club in Kurigram on Tuesday, noon.
Activists presented the indicators that destroy social harmony in Fulbari Upazila, such as online gambling, drug addiction, gender discrimination and violence against women, family disputes, political differences, property disputes, reluctance of children and girls to support their elderly parents, child marriage, misuse of mobile phones and online harassment. Priests, imams, teachers, journalists and other guests expressed their opinions in the dialogue. The dialogue expressed the opinion that it is necessary to involve the youth in work, family-acceptable education and sports.
The speakers also mentioned that initiatives need to be taken to increase awareness among students in educational institutions. The chief guest of the dialogue, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Fulbari Kurigram Dilara Akhter, emphasized the importance of increasing mutual respect and forming peace committees to maintain social harmony and peace. She also said that it is very necessary to use technology appropriately, be aware of fake information, and verify information. A plan was taken in the dialogue to eliminate all these crises. To implement this plan, it was decided to conduct a year-round youth-led online campaign to increase public awareness so that peace and harmony increase in the society. Project Coordinator Rabiul Islam was also present in the dialogue.
