Distribution of leaflets of 11-party unity in favour of referendum in Kishoreganj

 Kishoreganj correspondent

An 11-party unity led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has held a leaflet distribution program in Kishoreganj demanding the convening of a session of the Constitutional Reform Council and the implementation of the referendum verdict. At the same time, the program called for 'preventing the return of fascism'.

On.Thursday (April 9), after Asr prayers, leaders and activists of the district branch of the 11-party unity distributed leaflets to people of different classes and professions, starting from in front of the Nogua Shesh Mor Mosque in Kishoreganj city and ending at various areas and bus stands in Nogua.

Present during the program were Central Majlis-e-Sura member and District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Professor Md. Ramzan Ali, Nayebe Ameer Principal Maulana Azizul Haque, District Secretary Maulana Nazmul Islam, Assistant Secretary Shamsul Alam Selim, Professor Kazi Md. Saifullah, Secretary of the Political Department Professor Azizul Haque Kajal, Organizing Secretary of the NCP District Branch Hafez Ikram Hossain, Sadar Upazila Jamaat Ameer Qari Maulana Nazrul Islam, City Jamaat Secretary A. N. M. Nayeem and other leaders and activists.

In the program, the leaders said, "According to the expectations of the people, we demand the government to take necessary steps to implement the referendum verdict and the constitutional reform process quickly." The BNP government is deceiving the people by ignoring the referendum verdict. Unite to protect the power and dignity of the people. The leaders said that in the thirteenth national election on February 12, 2026, the people voted to form the National Parliament and the Constitutional Reform Council simultaneously under the same schedule. Respecting the popular vote, 77 representatives of 11 parties took the oath, but BNP rejected the referendum verdict and boycotted the oath of the Reform Council. Later, despite repeated demands from the opposition parties to convene a session of the Reform Council, the government ignored it and proposed the coveted parliamentary committee on constitutional amendment in the parliament on March 15, 2026. We believe that it is not possible to fulfill the people's aspirations through mere amendments without reforming the structural aspects of the constitution.

Therefore, in protest against the government's stance against the referendum verdict, I have voted out of the opposition party on that day and I pledge to fight uncompromisingly for the implementation of the referendum in parliament and on the streets. I also call on everyone to be aware to maintain a democratic environment in the country.
