
Father, daughter lose legs in head-on collision between bus, motorcycle in Bagha

A tragic head-on collision between a bus and a motorcycle on the Bagha-Irdi highway in Rajshahi's Bagha upazila resulted in a father and his daughter losing their legs. Another motorcycle rider was also injured in the incident.
The accident occurred around 8:30 AM on Monday in the Baniyapara area of the Sadar upazila.
The injured have been identified as Mohammad Shanto Islam (33), a member of the Bangladesh Army and son of Ejahar Ali from Lalpur upazila, his daughter Umme Suraiya (5), and his wife Mosammat Jesmin.
According to local sources, Shanto Islam was traveling with his daughter Umme Suraiya and pregnant wife Jesmin on a motorcycle to Green Haven School near Bagha Municipality. On the way, their motorcycle collided with a Dhaka-bound bus of the Super Soni Paribahan service in the Baniyapara area.
As a result of the collision, Shanto Islam and his daughter Suraiya lost their right legs on the spot. However, Jesmin (25), who is pregnant, reportedly did not suffer any major physical injuries. Locals quickly detained the bus and rushed the injured father, mother, and child to the Upazila Health Complex. The severed legs of the father and daughter were also recovered and sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Bagha Thana police arrived at the scene and took the bus and the wrecked motorcycle to the police station using a van.
