
Foreign liquor, beer worth over Tk 4.5 cr seized by Coast Guard in Chattogram

The Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized foreign liquor and beer worth approximately Tk 4.5 crore from the Marine Drive area in Chattogram.
Lieutenant Commander H.M.M. Harun-ur-Rashid, Media Officer of the Coast Guard, confirmed this on Saturday afternoon.
Acting on a tip-off, Coast Guard Base Chattogram conducted a special operation in the Dogir Khal area under Halishahar Police Station at around 5 a.m. on May 3, 2025. During the raid, several suspicious individuals were seen unloading sacks from a Danish boat. When the Coast Guard team signaled them to stop, the suspects abandoned the boat and sacks and fled through the nearby mangrove forest.
Subsequently, a search of the boat and surrounding jungle area led to the recovery of approximately Tk 4.15 crore worth of contraband items, including 56 cans of Heineken Original Beer ,161 bottles of foreign liquor and four ottles of Twin Valley Olive Oil
The suspects managed to escape, and no arrests were made during the operation.
Legal procedures concerning the seized boat and contraband items are currently underway.
To maintain national security and law and order, the Bangladesh Coast Guard maintains 24-hour patrols. As a result, the overall situation in coastal and riverine areas under Coast Guard jurisdiction has significantly improved. Anti-smuggling operations like this will continue in the future.
