Former Chhatra League leader Asif Bakht Rad arrested in Sylhet

Police arrested Asif Bakht Rad, former organizational secretary of Sunamganj District Chhatra League, during a drive at a residence in the Shahporan area of Sylhet city on Tuesday.
Rad is the son of the late Ayub Bakht Jaglul, former mayor of Sunamganj Municipality and former general secretary of Sunamganj District Awami League, as well as the nephew of Noman Bakht Polin, the current general secretary of the district Awami League.
Police sources stated that the arrest was executed based on verified mobile location data in a coordinated raid conducted by Sunamganj Police with assistance from Shahporan Police Station under the Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP).
OC of Sunamganj Sadar Police Station Ratan Sheikh confirmed that Rad was apprehended at his maternal grandfather's residence in Sylhet and subsequently transferred to Sunamganj Sadar Police Station custody on Tuesday night.
Sunamganj Superintendent of Police (SP) ABM Zakir Hossain, PPM said, the detainee was wanted for his active involvement in recent political activities organized by the banned Chhatra League in Sunamganj town. Authorities confirmed he will be produced before the court on Wednesday.
