French environmental expert meets with DU VC : Discussion on undertaking joint research project on human rights, climate policy

Renowned environmental expert of the French Development Agency (AFD) Dr. Farid Lamara met with the Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University, Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam, at his office on Tuesday.
Mr. Neumann Max, Project Manager of the same agency, was with him at the time.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Ikramul Haque, Dean of the Faculty of Law of Dhaka University, and Professor Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir, Dean of the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences, were present at the meeting.
During the meeting, the possibility of undertaking a research project titled 'Human Rights and Climate Policy in Bangladesh' in collaboration with the French Development Agency was discussed. Dhaka University will play the role of the implementing authority for this project.
The meeting also discussed the creation of a data collection framework for the research project, which can help in systematic monitoring of how climate change is affecting human rights.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ABM Obaidul Islam thanked the French expert for taking the initiative to undertake this project. He expressed his interest in working jointly with the French Development Agency to advance the education and research activities of Dhaka University.
