The implementation progress of sub-projects being implemented in various universities of the country under the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HIT) project is being strictly monitored. If any slowness, irregularities or serious problems are observed in the implementation, necessary strict action will be taken, said Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh. 

He said that the purpose of monitoring the progress of the project is not to harass anyone; rather, it is to achieve the project's goals within the stipulated time, ensure proper use of funds, and ensure the quality of work. 

He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the HIT Project Mid-Term Review Workshop at Agargaon Science Academy on Tuesday. 

The UGC Chairman said that the stage at which projects are, how much progress has been made, where problems are occurring and what are the reasons for delays - these issues should be reviewed regularly and closely. 

Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed said, "The aim of the HIT project is not just to complete the specified activities; its main objective is to bring about real, visible and sustainable changes in the country's higher education system. 

Regarding teacher development, the UGC Chairman said that initiatives have been taken to bring 5,000 teachers under various training under the HIT project.

Project Director Prof Dr. Asaduzzaman highlighted the overall progress, achievements, implementation challenges, and future work of the HIT project. 

 World Bank Senior Education Specialist and HIT Project Task Team Leader TM Asaduzzaman, along with relevant officials from UGC, Bangladesh Accreditation Council, HIT Project, and the World Bank were present.
