
Half-fare controversy : Student allegedly pushed to death from bus in Gazipur

A helper (driver's assistant) of Takwa (Mini) Paribahan has allegedly pushed college student Siam (19) to death from a bus in a dispute over half-fare in Gazipur.
After the incident, the driver and helper fled, but the local crowd seized the bus.
The accident occurred at 9:30 pm on Thursday in the Porabari (Masterbari) area of Gazipur metropolis on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
The deceased Siam is a class 11 student of the local Rover Scout School and College in the Porabari (Masterbari) area. He is a resident of Baupara village in Gazipur Sadar upazila.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Sadar Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Abul Kashem confirmed the accident and said that Siam was coming from Joydevpur intersection to Porabari (Masterbari) area by Taqwa (Mini) Paribahan. At that time, he had an argument with the bus helper who was taking half fare. At one point, the helper pushed Siam, a student, and he fell from the moving bus onto the highway. At that time, an unidentified speeding vehicle hit him from behind, causing him to suffer a head injury and bleed from his face, resulting in his death on the spot.
Upon receiving the information, the student's body was recovered from the scene and sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Although the local people managed to seize the Taqwa Paribahan bus, the driver and the helper fled. We are trying to seize the bus driver and helper. Legal action is under process in the accident.
