Seminar on 'Youth Thoughts 'in Ctg : Investment circus going on in country : Amir Khasru
Chittagong Bureau
BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury commented that an "investment circus" is currently ongoing in the country.
He said, "We are now witnessing an investment circus. Those who truly understand investment know that no substantial investment is happening. Investors will only feel assured when there is a government elected by the people's vote. They will look at the policies and intentions of that government before deciding to invest."
Amir Khasru made these remarks on Friday afternoon at the "Youth's Future Thoughts, Future Bangladesh" divisional seminar for Chittagong and Comilla, organized by the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal at the Kazi Deuri International Convention Center.
He further said, "What have you learned from this seminar on 'Youth's Future Thoughts, Future Bangladesh'? What lessons are you taking away? You are taking away three key lessons, which signify a significant shift in our political culture."
He outlined following lessons :
First Lesson: he said, "We have moved beyond the era of formal addressing. No one addressed the audience here. The time for formal addresses is over."
Second Lesson: He noted, "Many present here are not typical participants in a political party event. Yet, BNP has set an example where individuals who do not belong to the party can come to its forums and express their views, marking a substantial change in political culture."
Third Lesson: He added, "Leaders are seated at the front, but none of them gave a speech today. This indicates a cultural shift within BNP's political norms."
Speaking about employment and multifaceted industrialization, Amir Khasru said, "To secure jobs, the most crucial factor is investment. Without investment, whether for self-employment or traditional employment, true success will never be achieved."
He further emphasized that BNP's political vision, initiated by the late President Ziaur Rahman, focused on a free market economy and democratization, without which investment is impossible. For investment to flow, political stability is the number one requirement.
On political stability, Amir Khasru stated, "True political stability occurs when a government is formed through the people's vote, is accountable to the people, and continuously engages with them for re-election."
He concluded by saying, "In our country, we still don't have an elected government that is accountable to the people. Until that changes, political stability will remain elusive, and significant investment will not come."
The seminar, moderated by BNP's Acting Chairman's Adviser Mahdi Amin, included speeches by popular TV talk show personality Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, BNP Chairperson's Foreign Affairs Committee Member Israfil Khasru, East Delta University Vice-Chancellor Prof Nazim Uddin, State University Vice-Chancellor Prof Akhtar Hossain Khan, Premier University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Nasrul Qadir, University of Dallas Texas faculty member Shafqat Rabbi, East Delta University founder Saeed Al Noman, content creator Sayed Abdullah, Chittagong University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Kamal Uddin, Chittagong Medical University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Omar Farooq Yusuf, US-based Oracle's Senior Engineering Manager Muntasir Munir, Jahangirnagar University faculty member Dr. Nahrin A. Khan, filmmaker Mabrur Rashid Bannah, Cornell University faculty member Prof Jamal Uddin, Pathao CEO Fahim Ahmed, and Dhaka University faculty member Prof Abdullah Al Mamun.
