Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain on Saturday made a surprise inspection of the 250-bed Modern Sadar Hospital in Habiganj to evaluate the quality of healthcare services.
During the unannounced visit, the minister walked through various wards and spoke directly with patients standing in queues at the ticket counter.
Denouncing various irregularities and poor conditions, aggrieved patients and visitors openly expressed their grievances to the minister. Acknowledging their complaints, the Health Minister sternly warned hospital authorities over persistent doctor and staff shortages, unsanitary environments, and inadequate patient care. He asserted that no negligence or irregularities in ensuring public healthcare will be tolerated and instructed local administration to swiftly improve service standards and crack down on brokerage syndicates.
While inspecting the hospital dispensary, the minister found pharmacist Regan Ahmed absent without authorized leave. Following the inspection, immediate administrative action was taken, and an instant transfer order was issued against the absentee staff member.
