National Citizens Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam said, many say we are trying to postpone the elections. However, if it were not for this mass uprising, you would not have been able to dream of elections. If we had not taken the movement from the quota reform movement to a mass uprising and the fall of the government, we would have waited for another four years under the Sheikh Hasina government.

He said, of course we want elections, we want voting rights, we want to ensure expression like humans.

He made these remarks at a rally at Faujdari intersection in Jamalpur city on Monday afternoon after participating in the 'July March for Building the Nation'.

Nahid Islam further said, a financial policy of extortion has been developed in the political parties of Bangladesh and, regrettably, various leaders and activists of the anti-discrimination student movement have been included in this extortion economy. Attempts are being made to extort by discrediting the name of the anti-discrimination student movement and the name of the NCP. We have clearly stated that we will start the struggle we have started against the extortionist terrorists from within. For this reason, we called for the dissolution of the anti-discrimination student movement committee after the announcement of the NCP .

He further said, for the last 17 years, no one in Jamalpur has been able to do politics independently. Politics was hostage to a godfather. We have freed the people from that hostage situation. Therefore, you will come forward to build the country by supporting the politics of the NCP.

Local and national leaders including NCP central leader Lutfar Rahman, Dr. Tasnim Zara, Nasiruddin Patwari and others spoke at the rally.

Earlier, the march, led by NCP Convener Nahid Islam, started from Tamaltala in the city and circled the main road of the city before ending at the meeting point (Faujdari More).

NCP central and local leaders and workers were present in the march.
