Free seeds, fertilizers distributed among farmers in Bheramara

In an initiative organized by the Bheramara Upazila Administration and the Department of Agricultural Extension, free seeds and fertilizers were distributed among small and marginal farmers on Tuesday morning at the Upazila Parishad premises to encourage summer onion cultivation.
Under the incentive program of the Agricultural Rehabilitation Assistance Fund for the fiscal year 2024–25, this support was provided to expand summer onion cultivation and increase production during the Kharif-1 season.
A total of 350 small and marginal farmers are receiving high-yielding onion seeds and the necessary fertilizers free of cost under this program.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rafiqul Islam, the chief guest of the event, said, “The main objective of this incentive program is to encourage farmers to cultivate summer onions and increase production to address the onion shortage in the country.”
He further added, “Priority is being given to small and marginal farmers so that they become more interested in onion production and can benefit financially.”
The event was presided over by Acting Upazila Agriculture Officer Ashfaqur Rahman. Other government officials and farmers were also present at the event.
