Pallab Kumar Hazra, Director (Deputy Secretary) of the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED), conducted an on-site inspection of 14 ongoing development projects under the "Important Rural Infrastructure Development Project" in Barguna district on Sunday.

During the visit, he assessed the implementation progress and construction quality of the projects, providing necessary directives to the relevant officials to ensure completion within the stipulated timeframes.

In accordance with the pre-scheduled itinerary of IMED, the official examined various activities being implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED). Following the inspection, Pallab Kumar Hazra held a discussion meeting with project officials, local beneficiaries, and stakeholders.

During the meeting, he emphasized the necessity of ensuring quality, transparency, and accountability in the implementation of development projects. He underscored that timely completion of the works is essential to ensure that the public receives the intended benefits of these investments without delay. The discussion covered various aspects, including project progress, construction standards, potential public service impact, and challenges related to implementation.

The inspection visit was attended by Barguna LGED Executive Engineer Md. Mehedi Hasan Khan, Senior Assistant Engineer Shyamal Kumar Gain, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of the Deputy Commissioner’s office Md. Golam Kibria Naim, and several Upazila Engineers including Md. Saiful Islam, Md. Idris Ali, and Md. Sakhawat Hossain. Representatives from the local community and media were also present.

According to LGED sources, the project encompasses the construction and development of roads, bridges, and culverts across various areas of Barguna. Once completed, these infrastructure projects are expected to significantly improve the district’s communication network, expand local economic activities, and contribute positively to the overall quality of life for the residents of Barguna.
