Import - export operations at Hili Land Port to remain closed for 7 days

On the occasion of the upcoming Sharidya Durga Puja, import and export through the Hili land port of Dinajpur will be closed for 7 consecutive days. As a result, no goods will be transported through the port for these 7 days. The Hili Exporters and Customs Clearing Agents Association of India has informed the Hili Customs C&F Agents Association of Bangladesh of this decision to close the port through a letter.
The Hili Immigration Checkpost authorities said that the Hili Immigration Checkpost will remain operational from morning to evening every day. As a result, female passport holders will be able to travel between the two countries using the checkpost.
General Secretary of Hili Customs C&F Agents Association Md. Shahinur Islam Shahin said, "The big festival of traditional religion, Sharadiya Durga Puja, is starting from October 17. For this reason, Indian businessmen have decided to stop the import-export transportation of all kinds of goods through Hili land port for 7 days after discussions. As a result, all kinds of activities will be closed through the port for these 7 days from October 17-22. They have officially informed us about this in a letter.
He further said, "All the port related people in our Bangladesh side have been informed about the matter through a letter. Since Friday, October 23 is a weekly holiday, the operations of Hili Port will resume from Saturday (October 24.).
Hili Immigration Checkpost OC Md. Zakaria said, "The Hili Immigration Checkpost remains operational even during any festival or public holiday in Bangladesh and India. As a result, any passenger with a valid passport and visa can travel between Bangladesh and India using this checkpost from 9 am to 6:30 pm, 7 days a week. We are fulfilling our duties as per the government's instructions. Therefore, even though import and export at the land port is closed, passport-holding passengers will travel."
Officials of the Hili Land Customs Station said that the operations of the Hili Land Customs Station will remain normal except for the public holidays of Puja. Hili Customs has no relation with the holidays of Indian traders.
