With the slogan "Plant trees, save the environment," Shibchar Upazila Islami Chhatra Shibir has initiated a 15-day tree plantation and distribution campaign as part of the central program of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir at 10 am on Sunday. 

The campaign was inaugurated at the premises of the traditional Government Barhamganj College in Shibchar, presided over by Raihan Mahmud. The chief guest was Md. Riyad Hossain.

In his speech, the chief guest said, “Trees are the sincere friends of human beings. There is no alternative to tree planting for maintaining environmental balance. The terrible effects of climate change have already started to cause various problems in our lives. So if we are not conscious now, we will leave behind a terrible world for the next generation. I thank Shibir sincerely for this initiative as a teacher. On behalf of the school and college community, I also express my appreciation and congratulations. This is the perfect time for tree planting. We are truly amazed to see the variety of saplings.”

As part of the 15-day countrywide tree plantation and distribution campaign (from 23 June to 7 July), various types of trees were planted today in the courtyards of different schools, colleges, and government institutions in Shibchar. Later, they distributed various fruit and other tree saplings among nearly one hundred general students.

Among others present at the event were: former president of Shibchar Upazila Islami Chhatra Shibir Shah Sultan, secretary Mujahid Talukder, organizational secretary Md. Enayet Hossain, Nazmul Hossain, Habib, other teachers, municipal president of Chhatra Shibir Hasan, college secretary Siam, office secretary Redowan, finance secretary Mehedi Hasan, Jisan Kazi, and other responsible members.
