Jebu Wadud Jame Mosque inaugurated in Morelganj

The newly -constructed Jebu Wadud Jame Mosque has been officially inaugurated in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat. The inauguration ceremony was held on Thursday (March 19) at Talukdar Bari area adjacent to the Chowrasta Kalibari Bridge in Ward No. 5 of Char Hoglabunia Union, Dr Kazi Moniruzzaman Monir, Senior Joint Convener of the BNP’s central Tatidul Tanti Dal attended the function as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the mosque by cutting the ribbon.
In his inaugural speech, Dr. Moniruzzaman Monir said, “A mosque is not only a place of worship; it is also an important center for nurturing morality, values, and humanity in society. The role of mosques in building an ideal society is immense. Such religious institutions play a vital role in establishing peace, harmony, and mutual compassion within the community.”
Among other distinguished attendees were local dignitaries including Md. Mofazzal Matubbar, Md. Sohrab Bepari, Mohajjel Bepari, Md. Ruhul Amin Khan, Dr. Ali Ahmad Khan, and Talukdar Ripon Master, among others.
It is learnt that the mosque was constructed under the initiative of the Jebu Wadud family and under the overall supervision of land donor Talukdar Faizul Kabir Liton. Financial support for the construction was provided by Dr. Kazi Moniruzzaman Monir and his spouse Mirza Sanjida Khatun, Sheikh Golam Mostafa, his two sisters Saleha Sadeq and Sahera Khatun, Seema Haider, along with other local well-wishers. The total construction cost of the mosque was approximately 1.7 million taka.
