KUET student dies after drowning in pond

A student of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) went missing while swimming in a pond near Khan Jahan Ali Hall with his friends on Tuesday afternoon.
Despite immediate rescue efforts by fellow students and staff, he could not be found.
At around 3:45 PM, a diving team from the Khulna Fire Service arrived at the scene and recovered the unconscious body of the student after a 5-minute search. He was given initial medical attention and rushed to the Khulna Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The student has been identified as Santanu Karmakar, a first-year student of the Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) Department.
