Land Service Fair, awareness meeting held in Begumganj

A day-long land service fair and public awareness meeting was held in Begumganj, Noakhali, with the aim of creating 'people-friendly automated land management'. The fair was inaugurated on Tuesday morning at the Upazila Land Office premises amid colorful arrangements.
Begumganj UNO Md. Kayesur Rahman was present as the chief guest at the event organized by the Upazila Land Office. The meeting, chaired by Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Sadat Hossain, highlighted various steps taken by the government to bring land services to the doorsteps of the common people.
Various important information related to land was displayed for citizens through banners and festoons at the fair premises. In particular, the public was made aware of the need for e-namjari or mutation and the benefits of regular land development tax payment. It was informed at the fair that even if ownership is acquired through documents, full government recognition cannot be obtained without namjari. In fact, without namjari, it becomes impossible to buy and sell land, take bank loans, or get design approval for building construction. On the other hand, the risks of certificate cases and land auctions if taxes are not paid regularly are also warned.
Speakers at the inaugural ceremony said that thanks to smart land management, people can now avail many services from their homes. Such awareness fairs will play an effective role in ensuring a broker-free and harassment-free environment.
A large number of service recipients, including local dignitaries, land office officials and employees, were present at the event. A special help desk set up on the occasion of the fair provided assistance in quick e-registration and online tax payment.
