A law and order discussion meeting was held at the conference room of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) headquarters in preparation for the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja-2025 was held at 3pm on Monday.
Leaders of Puja committees, representatives of various political parties, and leaders of religious organizations attended the meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Abu Sufian. He stated that Sharadiya Durga Puja is the largest religious festival of the Bengali Hindu community. To ensure the festival is celebrated peacefully, cooperation from everyone is essential. The RMP has taken comprehensive measures for overall security at Puja pandals, traffic management, idol immersion, and prevention of rumors or misinformation on social media.
Besides , RMP has arranged for leaflets displaying important mobile numbers to be posted at every Puja pandal. The commissioner urged Puja committee members and political leaders to report any law and order issues or social media misinformation. He also sought their cooperation to ensure smooth movement of visitors and safe completion of idol immersion ceremonies.
Leaders of political parties attending the meeting stated that volunteers will be appointed in every ward, and monitoring cells will be formed to prevent any miscreants from disturbing law and order during Durga Puja.
Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters), Additional DIG Mohammad Khorshed Alam (promoted), PPM, senior RMP officials; representatives from the Army, RAB, Ansar, and intelligence agencies; and leaders of various political parties, religious organizations, and the Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Welfare Front were present.
