Life-sentenced fugitive arrested in Nandigram

Police arrested a long-time fugitive convict sentenced to life imprisonment during a raid in the Bogra Sadar area.
An operational team from Nandigram Police Station conducted the drive in the jurisdiction of Bogra Sadar Police Station on Monday morning, September 28, 2026, and apprehended the fugitive, identified as Rafiqul Islam, son of the late Joynal Abedin of Bhatgram village under Nandigram upazila.
Police sources stated that a competent court had previously convicted Rafiqul Islam in a GR case, sentencing him to life imprisonment alongside a monetary fine of Tk 50,000, with an additional year of rigorous imprisonment in default. The convict had been absconding since the pronouncement of the verdict.
OC of Nandigram Police Station Tariqul Islam confirmed the arrest on Monday stating that the police team successfully executed the warrant and produced the convict before the Bogra Court for further legal procedures.
