State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Anindya Islam Amit, said that the credit for the July movement does not belong to any single individual or political party, but is rather the collective fruit of the struggles of the country's pro-democracy masses.

He made the remarks as the chief guest at a discussion meeting highlighting the significance of the day, held at the Khagrachhari Deputy Commissioner's office to observe "July Martyrs' Day 2026." on Thursday.

The State Minister emphasized that the people of Bangladesh never want to witness a repetition of the distressing events that occurred under the fascist regime of Sheikh Hasina during the Awami League tenure, adding that all political forces bear the responsibility to ensure this.

Reflecting on the context of the July movement, the State Minister noted that the 2024 mass uprising did not emerge out of nowhere; rather, it was the explosion of public anger accumulated over years of autocratic rule, absence of democracy, oppression, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and human rights violations.

The discussion forum was attended by Member of Parliament for Khagrachhari-298 constituency Abdul Wadud Bhuiyan as the special guest. Khagrachhari Deputy Commissioner Md. Anwar Sadat, Superintendent of Police Md. Mortoza Ali Khan, Civil Surgeon Dr. Ratan Khisa, Senior Vice President of District BNP Prabin Chandra Chakma, General Secretary M N Absar, District Jubo Dal President Mahabub Alam Sabuj, Islami Andolan Bangladesh District President Hafez Maulana Delwar Hossain, General Secretary Maulana Kawsar Azizi, NCP District Convener Md. Nurul Alam, and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Shramik Kalyan Federation President Abdul Mannan, among others, were also present.
