
Maternal and Child Health and Family Planning services continue in Narail during Eid holiday

During the holy Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, emergency services continued to operate around the clock at the Union Health and Family Welfare Centers in Narail Sadar Upazila. While visiting several centers including Hobkhali, Shahabad, and Muliya on April 3 , it was found that Sub-Assistant Community Medical Officers and visitors were present and providing essential maternal and child health care as well as family planning services.Service recipients present at the time expressed their gratitude to the Family Planning Department for continuing services even during the Eid holidays. According to discussions with the Upazila Family Planning Officer and the Medical Officer (MCH-FP), maternal and child health and family welfare services have been kept operational at ten centers in the upazila. Additionally, under the supervision of the Medical Officer (Clinic), the Narail Maternal and Child Welfare Center (Maternity Hospital) has been providing uninterrupted healthcare services.Outpatient services also remained active at the Narail Maternal and Child Welfare Center during the holidays. Taslima Khatun from Bashgram in Sadar Upazila said, “I came to the Narail Maternal and Child Center because I was severely ill. I didn’t expect any doctor to be available on a holiday, but I was very happy to be able to see a doctor.” Rajina from Simkhali village mentioned, “I came here with my three-month-old son Ayan for a consultation. After receiving the doctor’s advice, I felt relieved and at ease.”Dr. Nusrat Jahan, Medical Officer at Narail Maternal and Child Welfare Center, said, “Even though the outpatient department is officially closed on holidays, we continue to provide healthcare services out of concern for incoming patients.”The Upazila Family Planning Officer stated, “Since our centers offer normal delivery services (NVD), antenatal care (ANC), postnatal care (PNC), and permanent and long-term family planning methods, we have kept the centers open as part of emergency services, following government directives and under the overall supervision of the Deputy Director of Family Planning, Narail.” He added that all services from these centers are provided free of charge. Moreover, for those who avail of long-term and permanent family planning methods, government-prescribed travel/compensation and follow-up allowances are also provided where applicable.
