Rally and discussion meeting were held in Khagrachari on the occasion of the great May Day and National Occupational Health and Safety Day-2025 to achieve the fair rights of working people.On Thursday (May 1), a discussion meeting was held at the municipal town hall under the theme "Workers and owners united to build this country anew."Earlier, a colorful rally was taken out from the municipal town hall premises with the cooperation of the Ministry of Labor and Employment and organized by the district administration. The rally circled the main roads of the city and met at the town hall auditorium for a discussion meeting.The discussion meeting, chaired by Khagrachari Deputy Commissioner ABM Iftekharul Islam Khandaker, was attended by Khagrachari Additional Municipal Administrator Nazmun Ara Sultana, Divisional Forest Officer Md. Farid Miah, Additional Deputy Commissioner Hasan Maruf, Rumana Akhter, Ferdousi Begum, Khagrachari Press Club Vice President Md. Zahurul Alam, Khagrachari District BNP Organizing Secretary Abdur Rouf Raja,  Khagrachari Superintendent of Police, officials of various departments concerned and  leaders of transport workers' organizations. The speakers at the meeting said that today, this great May Day reminds us of the historic day of establishing the rights of all those workers. The civilization that has been developed in every country over the ages is due to the labor and sweat of the workers. They called on everyone to work together to protect the safety and dignity of every working person.The speakers also said that they called on everyone to ensure occupational health and safety, protect against all inhuman labor including child labor, and to ensure the wages and healthy working environment of all workers in the construction of a beautiful Bangladesh. They also highlighted the need to bring discipline to transport management.  He emphasized on clearing the encroachment of sidewalks, construction of modern bus terminals, widening of highways and regional roads including tourist roads, and imposing a ban on entry of unfit and unlicensed vehicles into the city.
