
Moulvibazar Municipality announces budget of Tk over 169 cr for 2025-26 fiscal year

After a long time without elected representatives, Moulvibazar Municipality has announced its proposed budget for the 2025-2026 financial year. The total proposed budget is set at 169 crore 45 lakh 80 thousand taka. The announced budget prioritizes the citizen service sector.
The budget was formally announced by the Municipality Administrator and Additional District Administrator (Overall) Bulbul Ahmed in the Moulvibazar Municipality hall room on Thursday noon.

Present at the event were the Municipality's Executive Officer Mohammad Nure Alam Siddiqui, Assistant Engineer Anwar Sahadat, Accounts Officer Ujjal Chandra Deb, and other municipal officials.
The budget session was conducted by Store Keeper and License Inspector Rumel Ahmed.
During the open discussion at the budget event, speeches were delivered by Moulvibazar Press Club Convener Boksi Iqbal Ahmed, Member Secretary Syed Humaid Ali Shahin, former General Secretary and Inqilab's district correspondent S M Umed Ali, staff reporter of Ekhon TV and Dainik Shyamal Sylhet M A Hamid, own correspondent of Dainik Rupali Bangladesh Mo. Shahjahan, district correspondent of Asian TV and Dainik Amar Sangbad Mahbubur Rahman Rahel, district correspondent of Dainik Sangbad Sarabela Mo. Abdul Kaiyum, and district correspondent of Dainik Jugantor Hosain Ahmed.
After the budget announcement, Municipality Administrator Bulbul Ahmed addressed various questions from journalists regarding initiatives to prevent pollution in Kudalichhara, outstanding electricity bills, waterlogging in the city, extortion from footpaths, traffic congestion, and other issues.
During this time, he stated that the municipality has approximately 1.5 crore taka in outstanding electricity bills. Mentioning that these dues are from four years ago, he added that currently, monthly electricity bills are being paid, and the previous outstanding bills are also being cleared. Regarding the issue of illegal extortion from footpaths, he said that inquiries would be made, and necessary actions would be taken.
