Nabila Tedros' syndicate angers farmers in Tanore

Sohanul Haque Parvez, Tanore (Rajshahi)

In Tanore, Rajshahi, fertilizer is not available from the government-designated distributors (dealers), and farmers are facing an artificial shortage of Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer, which is increasing their expenses. However, even if the dealers do not have fertilizer at their homes, they can still get it at a higher price in the open market.
Fertilizer is available.

The Agriculture Department is encouraging farmers to use DAP fertilizer. But farmers in Tanore are not getting the fertilizer as per their requirement even after going to the government-appointed distributors (dealers). Although the Agriculture Department says that there is sufficient supply of DAP. Farmers allege that an artificial shortage of this fertilizer has been created due to increased demand. As a result, they are having to buy it from the market at a higher price. Local farmers said that the BCIC fertilizer dealer of Badhai Union (UP) of the upazila, Messrs.

Nabila Tedros, is syndicating fertilizer and charging a higher price. However, the government is writing the fixed price on the purchase receipt, and if anyone protests, the fertilizer is not given to him. Again, even if the farmers do not get fertilizer, the employee is giving fertilizer to his relatives in secret. Due to this, farmers are being deprived of receiving fertilizer.

Farmers allege that a large part of the subsidized fertilizer allocated to this dealer is going to the black market. Farmers say that although some of the fertilizer allocated by this dealer is brought to the shops from buffer warehouses or various port locations, a large part is being smuggled to smugglers. The truth of the allegations will be found only after the Sarezmin inspection and investigation of the purchase receipts.

Local farmers have demanded that the license of this dealer be canceled and a new dealer be appointed. When asked about this, the manager of Messrs. Nabila Tedros, Babu, denied these allegations and said, "The government is not able to supply fertilizer as per the demand. Therefore, we are not able to provide fertilizer as per the demand of the farmers, and if someone does not get fertilizer, they are spreading various misinformation." #Sohanul Haque Parvez Tanor Rajshahi 20 August 2026
