A human chain was fomed and memorandum was submitted demanding the naming of Haripur-Chilmari Teesta Bridge after the name of freedom fighter Shariatullah Master in Sundarganj upazila in Gaibandha.
Local freedom fighters, academics, students, businessmen and people of different classes participated in the program organized in front of the Gaibandha Theater and Cultural Organization (Ganasas) on DB Road in the district on Sunday.
Speakers in the program organized by the Sharitulah Master Teesta Bridge Implementation Committee said that this bridge built on the Teesta river between Haripur and Chilmari upazila of Kurigram was implemented. This impossible is made possible by the local resident Bir freedom fighter and educator Sharitulah Master. From that time onwards he alone raised the voice for the bridge and continued the movement for a long period of 3 years. Despite the ridicule of the people at that time, he has worked relentlessly to reduce the misery of the people of the region.
Participants in the human chain also said that the people of this region had to suffer extreme misery as there was no bridge over the Teesta river. Sharitulah Master realized that problem and formed the Teesta Bridge Implementation Committee and highlighted the rationality of the bridge to the people. The bridge has finally seen the light of the light through its tireless work, leadership and creation of the masses. It not only made the people of the two sides of the Teesta easier, but it would also play a huge role in the economic development of the region.
The speakers strongly said that the main power behind the construction of the bridge was Sharitulah Master. This is not just a bridge, it is a reflection of his 3 -year sacrifice and dream. To honor his unforgettable contribution and to keep his memory forever to the new generation, the bridge should be named 'Sharitulah Master Teesta Bridge'.

From the human chain, the local administration and the government demanded that the newly constructed bridge was named after the heroic freedom fighter Shaitulah Master recognized this unforgettable contribution of the master. Locals believe that the dream and sacrifice of Sharitulah Master will be forever remembered and future generations will be inspired by the ideals of his patriotism and public service. Later, a delegation issued a memorandum containing the chief adviser to the Deputy Commissioner.
It is to be noted that the Haripur-Chilmari II Teesta Bridge is the largest project of the Local Government Engineering Department-ALGID in the country. The tender was called on November 7, and the Chinese company 'China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited' completed the construction work. The construction of this bridge of 5,8 meters long has been spent Tk 120 crore. If the bridge is open, the distance from Kurigram to Dhaka will be reduced by 5 km. It will save time for two to two and a half hours. Not only Gaibandha and Kurigram, Dhaka's communication with some other northern districts will be much easier.
The main bridge is finished. Some connecting roads and electricity connectivity are left. The bridge is scheduled to start on August 12.
