Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Nahidur Rahman alone is handling four important offices in Goalanda, Rajbari with efficiency and dedication.
This officer of the 35th BCS administration is also serving as the Administrator of Goalanda Upazila Parishad, Administrator of Goalanda Municipality, and Assistant Commissioner (Land) in addition to the UNO office.
Nahidur Rahman joined Goalando Upazila as Executive Officer on December 24, 2024. Since joining, he has been performing administrative duties with efficiency and dedication. Not only does he perform official duties, but he is also successfully performing the duties of president of many secondary, higher secondary and technical educational institutions in the upazila.
It is learnt that after the fall of the government on August 5, the upazila chairmen were removed. Later, UNO Nahidur Rahman took over as the upazila administrator.
Meanwhile, when the municipal mayor was removed, he took over as administrator. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Asaduzzaman went for a 5-month survey and settler training under the Land Ministry on May 1. As a result, the responsibility of those two departments also fell on the shoulders of UNO Nahidur Rahman. As a result, the UNO has to handle the responsibility of four important departments alone.
It was seen on the spot that since the UNO office and the Upazila Parishad are located in the same building, he is performing his duties round the clock. He sits in the municipality and upazila land office 3-4 days a week, so that the people can easily get the services they need. In addition to various important tasks throughout the day, he stays in the office until the evening to run mobile courts and complete other administrative activities.

In addition to official work, in the past few days, he played a role in arranging the marriage of a disabled girl from a small ethnic helpless family in the upazila, quickly intervened to stop the leasing activity and protect the playground of children and youth, and repaired the collapsed bamboo bridge to make transportation easier for local farmers and fishermen.

This UNO has been conducting various social activities including distributing gum boots among farmers to protect them from the threat of Russell Viper snakes, conducting a series of mobile courts to stop illegal extraction of sand and soil from the Padma River and ponds, and introducing dance training at the Upazila Shilpakala Academy to develop cultural practices.
In this context, UNO Nahidur Rahman said, "I have been assigned the responsibility of four important departments systematically. I am trying to manage the responsibilities of each department properly. Although it is a lot of pressure for me, I still have to follow government regulations. If I complete the training and join the Assistant Commissioner (Land), then the responsibility will be reduced somewhat."
He further said, "Since joining this upazila, I have been trying to serve the people with utmost sincerity. The scope of responsibility is not big or small, but rather doing the work sincerely is important to me. As long as I am here, I will work for the welfare of the people." "I especially want to ensure that no one is subjected to any harassment. The people are sincerely cooperating with me, for which I am grateful to them."
