BNP leader Mosharraf says : Chingaria Canal is heart of our town, if this canal is saved, town will be saved

BNP National Executive Committee Training Secretary Alhaj ABM Mosharraf Hossain said, 'Chingaria Canal flowing inside Kalapara Municipality is the heart of our town.
It is now almost dead due to encroachment and pollution. If this canal is saved, our town will be saved, the town will be beautiful and clean. If Kalapara is to be developed as a modern municipality, we will all have to encroach and depollute this canal together soon.' - He said these things in his speech as the chief guest at the budget meeting of Kalapara Municipality for the 2025-26 English fiscal year on Monday afternoon.
Kalapara Municipality Administrator and Kalapara UNO Md. Rabiul Islam chaired the event.
Speaking as the chief guest at the budget meeting Mosharraf also said, 'To keep the town clean, citizens should collect garbage buckets from citizen homes and have the cleaning workers throw them at specific places. We have to play a role in increasing the revenue income of the municipality to ensure the development of the municipality and citizen services. Because development partners do not want to invest money without an elected political government. Therefore, we have to pay municipal taxes regularly so that our sustainable development plan is not hindered.'
Speaking as a special guest at the event, Upazila BNP President and former Mayor Haji Humayun Sikder said, 'Former Awami League Mayor SM Rakibul Ahsan, let alone the development of the municipality, has occupied the designated rickshaw stand of the municipality, obtained DCR and sold it. We have to take steps to rescue it.'
Municipal BNP President Gazi Md. Faruk criticized the fallen Awami League government and said, 'After 18 years, I have received an invitation to come to the budget meeting of Kalapara Municipality. During the Awami League era, we were not invited as citizens to any budget meeting. Because during fascism, they used to present the budget and divide the tenders without maintaining proper standards and looted in the name of development work.'
The meeting, moderated by Deputy Assistant Engineer Shakil and it was attended by Executive Engineer of the Municipality Md. Mashiur Rahman, General Secretary of Upazila BNP Adv Md. Hafizur Rahman Chunnu, Amir of Upazila Jamaat Maulana Md. Abdul Qayyum, Upazila Vice President of Islami Andolan Bangladesh Adv ZM Kawsar, Press Club President Nesar Uddin Ahmed Tipu, Civil Society Representative Mrs. Namita Dutta, Teacher Shah Shuja, Mamani, Journalist Gofaran Palash and Cultural Organizer Mustafa Zaman Sujan.
Earlier, without imposing any new taxes, the municipal administrator Md. Rabiul Islam announced a total surplus budget of Tk 25 crore 92 lakh 46 thousand 960 for the 2025-26 English fiscal year. Later, citizens of different wards of the municipal city spoke about this in an open discussion.
