
Coast Guard, Fisheries Depat joint drive : 8 fishermen detained with trawling boats, behundi nets in Bhola

Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized two illegal artisanal trawling boats and behundi nets and detained 8 fishermen in a joint operation by Coast Guard and Department of Fisheries at Dularhat, Bhola.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Hoque informed this in a press release on Friday afternoon.
The said, based on secret information, on Thursday at 3:00 PM, a joint operation was conducted in the Shuknakhali adjacent area under Dularhat police station of Bhola, coordinated by Coast Guard Outpost Char Manika and the Department of Fisheries. During the operation, 2 illegal artisanal trawling boats and 5 pieces of behundi nets were seized, and 8 fishermen were detained from the area.
Later, the seized trawling boats, behundi nets, and the detained fishermen were handed over to Dularhat police station for taking necessary legal action.
The Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to protect fishery resources, the press release added.
