
National Fisheries Week begins with colorful events at Char Fashion

National Fisheries Week 2025 was celebrated in Char Fassion with the theme "Building sanctuaries, filling the country with native fish" through various arrangements.
On Monday at 10 am, a colorful rally was organized by the Char Fashion Upazila National Fisheries Week 2025 Celebration Committee from the premises of the Upazila Parishad Administrative Building. The rally circled the main roads of the city and guests released native fish fry in the Upazila Parishad pond. Later, a discussion meeting and award distribution were held in the hall room of the Upazila Parishad.
The discussion meeting, chaired by Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Jayanta Kumar Apu, was addressed by Upazila Executive Officer Rasna Sharmin Mithi as the chief guest, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Emadul Islam, former General Secretary of Upazila BNP Motahar Hossain Alamgir Malatia, Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Principal Mir Mohammad Sharif Hossain, Islami Andolan Bangladesh Bhola District South Secretary Maulana Abbas Uddin, Upazila Sramik Dal President Mir Azad, Upazila Fishermen Dal President Sohag Khan.
The speakers urged everyone to follow government advice and restrictions to increase fish production.
The meeting was moderated by Upazila Plant Conservation Officer Chanaullah Azam. More than 500 fishermen and fish farmers of the upazila participated in the program.
At the end of the ceremony, four individuals and organizations were awarded for their contributions to the fisheries sector.
