National Legal Aid Day celebrated with various events in Joypurhat

National Legal Aid Day was celebrated with various events in Joypurhat under the theme 'Ending disputes at government expense, Bangladesh first'.
On Tuesday morning, a colourful rally was taken out from the District Judge's Court premises and circled the main road of the city before ending at the same place. Later, the guests visited the stalls of the Legal Aid Fair.
Present at the time were Senior District and Sessions Judge Anup Kumar, Superintendent of Police Mina Mahmuda, Civil Surgeon Al Mamun, Additional District Magistrate Mohaimena Sharmin, District Legal Aid Officer Faisal Ahmed, President of the District Lawyers Association Adv. Abdul Momen Fakir and Public Prosecutor of the Judge Court Shahnur Rahman Shahin.
On this occasion, District Legal Aid Officer Faisal Ahmed said in the discussion meeting that all those whose annual income is less than 1.5 lakh taka will get free legal aid from the District Legal Aid Committee. In the last one year, this committee has provided legal aid in 699 cases, 1124 consultations, filed 693 ADR pre-case cases, 87 ADR post-case cases and disbursed more than 50 lakh taka to the beneficiaries through amicable settlement.
