A preparatory meeting was held in Sreepur, Magura ahead of the celebration of Sharadiya Durga Puja 2025, the largest festival of the Hindu community on Thursday at 11 a.m. in Upazila Conference Hall, presided over by UNO Rakhi Banerjee.
Speakers were Sripur Police Station OC Idris Ali, President of Sripur Upazila Puja Celebration Committee Manoranjan Sarker, President of the Upazila Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council Apurbo Mitra, Upazila PIO Ruhul Amin Papon, Convener of the Upazila Puja Front Sandad Kumar Biswas, as well as representatives from the Fire Service & Civil Defence, Ansar VDP officers, media personnel, and presidents and general secretaries of each Puja Mandap.
It was reported that Durga Puja will be celebrated at 149 Puja Mandaps this year. Compared to last year, the number of Puja Mandaps has increased. Discussions were held on electricity connections, CCTV installations, administrative security, food assistance, fire safety measures, and strengthening law enforcement patrols at the Puja Mandaps.
Elected representatives and administrative officials at the meeting emphasized ensuring smooth traffic management, health services, and overall maintenance of order for devotees and visitors at the Puja Mandaps.
At the end of the meeting, UNO Rakhi Banerjee requested everyone’s cooperation to make the Puja celebrations successful and peaceful.
