Protests against Madrasa Superintendent in Dimla over alleged corruption
Mohammad Ali Sanu, Dimla ( Nilphamari)
Serious allegations of irregularities and corruption have been raised against Abdul Monayem, the superintendent of Sammilit Bandar Khiribari and Chatnai Bala Para Dakhil Madrasa in Dimla upazila.
According to local sources, the superintendent allegedly sent a proposal for a “pocket ad-hoc committee” to serve his personal interests. He has also been accused of mortgaging the madrasa’s land, misappropriating funds collected from the mortgage, embezzling money from recruitment processes, illegally cutting down madrasa-owned trees and selling them, constructing risky buildings, and failing to ensure regular classes and teacher attendance.
Angered by these allegations, local residents and students staged a protest rally on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. During the hour-long demonstration, speakers claimed that the superintendent’s actions were disrupting the institution’s normal academic activities and tarnishing its reputation.
Students expressed frustration, saying: “We are not getting regular classes, yet no one seems to care about our future.”
Locals demanded a fair investigation into the allegations and urged the authorities to take immediate action against the superintendent.
