The publication ceremony of the book titled "Public Administration: Theory and Concept", authored by Professor Nazmunnessa Mahtab—retired professor of the Department of Women and Gender Studies at the University of Dhaka and Rokeya Chair Professor of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh—was held Wednesday at the Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium.

The event was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Prof  Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan. Education Advisor Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar was present as the chief guest. The Department of Women and Gender Studies at the University of Dhaka organized the ceremony.

Professor Dr. Tayebur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Dhaka, attended the event as a special guest. Professor Dr. Sadik Hasan of the Department of Public Administration and Farah Kabir, Country Director of international NGO ActionAid Bangladesh, discussed the book's content and significance. Professor Dr. Tania Haque of the Women and Gender Studies Department delivered the welcome address, and Department Chairperson Dr. Sabiha Yasmin Rozi gave the vote of thanks. The event was attended by Associate Professor Saifuddin Ahmed, the university's proctor, along with teachers and students from various departments.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan described Professor Nazmunnessa Mahtab as a dedicated teacher and researcher who has earned a place in the hearts of many through her academic contributions. He mentioned that the book will be highly beneficial for both teachers and students as a textbook.

Education Advisor Professor Dr. Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar noted that most books in higher education are written in English, and translating such works into Bangla is essential for the advancement of education and research. He proposed the establishment of a "Translation Bureau" for this purpose. He also emphasized that this book by Professor Mahtab will serve as a source of inspiration for young teachers and researchers.

Divided into three sections, this academic book covers various definitions and topics of public administration, as well as multiple aspects of Bangladesh’s administrative system. It is expected to play a significant role in the study of public administration, political science, management, business administration, and leadership studies.
