A discussion meeting was held to celebrate National Road Safety Day 2025 with the slogan "Quality helmets and safe speed, will reduce loss of life and property".
The district administration and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Rangamati organized this program at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner at 10:30 am on Wednesday . Deputy Commissioner Md. Habib Ullah Maruf was the chief guest at the meeting.
Local Government Deputy Director Md. Mobarak Hossain, Rangamati Roads and Townships Department Executive Engineer Sabuj Chakma, Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Jasim Uddin, Rangamati Roads Division Sub-Divisional Engineer Touhidul Bari, Rangamati Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Rifat Asma, along with leaders of the Transport Owners' Association and Drivers' Association were also present at the event.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Habib Ullah Maruf said at the meeting that motorcycles and CNG must be brought under discipline,. Owners' Association, Drivers' Association and BRTA must all follow the rules. He requested the owners' association not to give away vehicles if they do not have a driving license. He gave a strict warning to the leaders not to unload illegal CNG on the road.
Speakers at the discussion meeting called for training drivers, strict implementation of traffic laws, stopping the movement of unfit vehicles on the road, and ensuring effective road management.
After the discussion meeting, Sabuj Chakma, Executive Engineer of the Rangamati Roads and Townships Department, distributed helmets at the city's New Market Square.
