Faridpur Correspondent 

A regional mass convention focusing on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was held in Faridpur with the call "Universal social protection is essential to end poverty and inequality."

Organized by the non-governmental development organization Rasin, the discussion meeting took place at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference room on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner of Faridpur Mazharul Islam addressed the program as the chief guest.

Presided over by prominent local NGO personality Md. Azharul Islam and moderated by Rasin Executive Director Asma Akhtar, the event was addressed by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Sohrab Hossain, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Hafizur Rahman, District Education Officer Bishnupada Ghoshal, Deputy Director of the District Social Services Office Ehiyatuzzaman, and District Women Affairs Officer Mashuda Begum. Prothom Alo Special Correspondent Probir Kanti Bala, Principal of Faridpur Muslim Mission College Abdullah Al Mamun, Headmaster of Sarada Sundari Girls' High School Monirul Islam, and Executive Director of BFF A N M Fazlul Hadi also spoke, among others.

At the onset of the program, Principal Supriya Dutta read out a concept paper titled "Not leaving anyone behind, let everyone's health, social security, and safe life be established as rights, building the Bangladesh of everyone's dreams."

Speakers at the convention emphasized that achieving the SDG targets requires focused work based on key indicators including health, agriculture, education, and women empowerment. They stressed that accurate statistical data is essential, warning that without reliable statistics, identifying necessary interventions across sectors will be impaired, hindering the overall realization of the SDGs.
