The fifth death anniversary of renowned poet, organizer, and former General Secretary of the Gaibandha Press Club, Abu Jafar Sabu, was observed with deep respect, affection, and remembrance in Gaibandha.

The program began on Saturday afternoon with the laying of floral wreaths at his portrait at the Gaibandha Press Club auditorium. Later, a memorial discussion was held under the chairmanship of Press Club President Amitabh Das Himun and moderated by Joint Secretary Javed Hossain.

Among those who spoke at the discussion were writer and researcher Professor Zahurul Kaiyum, Press Club General Secretary Idrisuzzaman Mona, Vice Presidents Rezaun Nabi Raju and Khaled Hossain, Joint Secretary Kuddus Alam, Organizing Secretary Rajat Kanti Barman, Library Secretary Mashum Billah, Executive Members Rezaul Haque Mita, Ariful Islam Babu, Golam Rabbani Musa, Khairul Islam, Lalchan Biswas, along with journalists, literary figures, and cultural activists.
On the occasion, the late journalist’s son and Press Club Publicity and Publication Secretary Abu Qaiser Shiplu expressed gratitude to all attendees and requested prayers for the eternal peace of his father's soul.

The speakers highlighted various aspects of Abu Jafar Sabu’s contributions to journalism, literature, and organizational activities. They described him as a shining figure in Gaibandha’s journalistic and cultural arena, whose contributions would continue to inspire future generations.
The program concluded with a prayer session conducted by Hafez Maulana Rakib Hasan, Muezzin of Kachari Bazar Jame Mosque.
